Judgment Built Across Industries, Roles and Project Lifecycles

Decades of hands-on experience across major industrial organizations, roles, and project lifecycles — on both the vendor and owner sides.

About aprocesr

aprocesr is an independent engineering advisory platform focused on early-stage industrial process decisions — where feasibility, constraints, and expectations must be understood before commitments harden.

The platform is deliberately lean and flexible, structured to support sound engineering judgment independent of specific technologies, vendors, or delivery models.

The advisory work presented on this site is grounded in decades of direct experience across industrial process and manufacturing environments, shaped by exposure to how major technical decisions are conceived, justified, executed, and ultimately lived with in operation.

The platform exists to connect the right expertise at the right moment, in service of better early decisions.

Founder and Principal Consultant

aprocesr was founded by Sam Matic, a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Canada, who serves as Principal Consultant.

His core expertise lies in process control and automation, complemented by integrative experience across systems-level engineering, project execution, and complex process behavior. This enables him to bridge detailed technical considerations with practical decision-making across both vendor and client environments.

Sam’s career includes roles with organizations such as Suncor, Rockwell Automation, Gerdau, and Siempelkamp, across a wide range of industrial contexts, including:

Oil & Gas • Power & Energy • Chemicals • Steel • Engineered Wood Panels • Automotive • Food & Beverage • Cement • Water & Wastewater • Material Flow Systems

Sam’s professional experience covers the full lifecycle of industrial initiatives — from early concept development and specification, through engineering and implementation, to commissioning, startup, operation, and post-implementation reality.

This includes work in greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit contexts, on both the vendor and client sides, in roles such as:

  • project engineering, commissioning and startup support,
  • operational and production-facing technical and project assignments,
  • technical sales / solution engineering.

Working in these different roles provides a practical understanding not only of technical challenges, but of how scope, expectations, and solution paths are formed, constrained, defended, and carried forward once commitments are made.

Research and Collaboration Network

Where required, aprocesr’s work is supported by close collaboration with a small group of academic consultants, all holding Ph.D. degrees.

Their expertise spans data-driven process analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence, data-based (non-physical) modeling, and optimization. These capabilities are applied internally to support analysis, synthesis, and advisory judgment — exploring how processes behave, what is mathematically and operationally feasible, and where limits and trade-offs arise.

Any models or analytical tools developed in this context are used solely to support early-stage specification and decision-making. aprocesr delivers decision-ready advisory insight to support early-stage specification and decisions.

Experience as a Basis for Trust

The value offered is earned engineering judgment — informed by having seen how industrial initiatives unfold beyond the planning phase.

That judgment is applied where it matters most: before irreversible decisions are made.
